Only a couple of months my ass!
People are always eager to tell new mothers about the trials and tribulations of having newborns, but all those who felt like enlighting me, always assured me it wouldn't last forever.
"oh it'll be really hard and you'll never sleep, but it'll only last a couple of months, and once your sleeping again, you'll see, its worth it."
Only a couple of months! I wish! Baby is now almost an entire year old, the twenty-seventh marks the big day. She still wakes up at night. Its getting worse. Shes waking up as much as three times a night. I end up going to be at eight when she does sometimes just to try to get as much sleep as I can before she wakes up. I'm at my wits end!
I don't know what to do, well thats not entirely true. Me and hubby have some tactics we are trying out.
Last night he told me "when she wakes up, unless shes really distressed, don't tend to her. " "Just ignor her and she'll go back to sleep"
See the problem is, and I should have explained this earlier, is, when she wakes up shes not crying, or stressed out, shes just making noises that are more saying, "hey guys I'm awake, maybe we can get up and play"
So I said sure. I"ll try anything.
So last night started night one of operation "pretend we're sleeping"
Sure enought she only made her little "EHHHH" sounds for a maybe a minete, and then went back to sleep. All three times. Even though she did wake us both up, theory is, after a few nights she'll relise we aren't going to play with her and she'll go back to sleep without making a peep. I sure hope our theory works out.
The big thing however, is getting her into her own room, which we are working on. If all goes right, we will be able to move upstairs by the end of June. I think that is a generous dealine, I think we will be done before then. We already started painting her room just tonight, then we only have to paint the hallway, hook up the baseboard heating, replace the windows and put down carpet..whooo done! That is of course if we can stay awake long enough.......
